Waxing space indoors is available starting at 7:30 AM.
Aid Station: 2 aid stations will be on the course.
Awards will be following the last racer in, at approximately noon.
No awards for touring class
Lunch will be a free pasty and hot drink to all pre registered racers
ABR Trails 2008 Midwest Grooming Clinic

This year ABR will again be hosting the Midwest Grooming Clinic, Tuesday and Wednesday Jan 15 and 16th 2008. The format will be set the same as we have had the last 7 years .
What is a Grooming Clinic?
For those of you who have not heard of the Clinic, let me try to describe it as a combination of a Clinic, Seminar, Workshop, Trade Show, and Show and Tell. You can take part, demo equipment, exchange ideas with the pro’s and vendors or you can browse the demo’s and watch and listen to the presentations. Groomers from the most experienced to novices are invited and have attended. Even veteran groomers will learn something if they keep an open mind. Speakers are invited from all over the country. Dress warm for the outdoor mornings and cooler for the afternoon indoor talks. Don’t forget to bring your ski clothes!
Costs
The cost for the Clinic is $150/person or vendor.
This includes printed grooming material and handouts, a 60 minute grooming DVD, rolls and coffee, lunch both days and the Wednesday night dinner. Trail use for grooming and/or skiing. Grooming Clinic instruction, clinic seminars, workshops, demo opportunity, etc. We will have free ski rentals and beginner ski instruction for all registered participants.

There were many sales as a result of the Clinic. Vendors did sell their demos and we are encouraging this year’s vendors to load up their trucks and trailers for the Clinic.
The heated “Race Building” will again house tables for vendor’s displays, and will have grooming video tapes/DVD’s playing during the 2 days.

Santa stops at ABR Trails to bring a Merry Christmas to skiers!
Yesterdays snow storm ended and we completed all of the trail grooming. We received 16 inches of snow! The Pisten Bully has been busy grooming. The trail has firmed up today and ski conditions are excellent! We are open Christmas day with normal hours 9-5….. …… >> More >>

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007Trail Update - December 2 – 7:15 PM — It is now time for the local recreational skier to ski. Super Skiing today! This is what follows “Winter Wonderland Conditions” with some grooming. (Note “Winter Wonderland Conditions” means it is snowing like mad and the groomers can not keep up!) We received a bunch of snow and NO rain. We set 48 km of very good tracks today, clean and white and smooth

ABR TRAILS ADDS 13 KM OF TRAILS

ABR Trails has just completed 13 km of new trails and refinement of some of the existing. This winter you can enjoy 55 kilometers (34+ miles) of groomed trails spread over 1,000 acres, complemented by an expanded ski shop, an expanded warming cabin with additional seating and restrooms, a sun deck to the south of the cabin with benches and 2 new ski-in cabins for lodging on the trails. The new land was a combination of purchasing land and leasing neighboring lands to the south along the Montreal River. Hautanen Highlands, Coyote Canyon, Bear Bait and Wolf Tracks are the four new trails to the south.The new trails to the south include some classic only trails and some Pisten Bully wider combination trails. The terrain is intermediate with some beautiful bluffs overlooking the Montreal River Valley. The new trails are quite spread out on the land so when you are out there you have a chance to see some wildlife and not as many skiers. The Sunrise Trail is an extension of the Sunset Trail with beginner terrain and follows the Montreal River before returning to the highlands of the Sunset Trail. The Peltonen Pass and Popple Plunge received a complete facelift and were re-designed into a 5.5 km trail that climbs the famous Birdhouse Hill Ridge 3 times and goes up and down and around some beautiful bluffs and large Oak Trees. The trail does not have any flats except for a bit of run out on the hills. The downhills are banked and curvy, the uphills do not have any off cambers. The trail has only 2 trail crossings where the Hemlock trail crosses. This Trail should provide excellent training for technique and conditioning. It was designed by Eric Anderson, Ken Hazel and Kevin Balduc and is named “Peltonen Pass-Out” and is a true Black Diamond Trail. The flat sections of the Popple Plunge and Peltonen Pass were combined into a easy loop called Popple Flats.
