The Hanson Hills/CCSS Nordic Ski Team will be sponsoring a waxing/ski preparation clinic by Mike Wagner from Swix USA on December 9, 2006 at the Hanson Hills Recreation Area in Grayling.  The XC ski session is scheduled for 10:00 am and the downhill session is scheduled for 1:00 pm.  The forecast for snow is promising, so after the wax clinic plan on trying the nordic ski trails.  The trail crew has been busy clearing and grooming a new loop and making improvements to existing loops.  For further details including directions and trail conditions visit the Hanson Hills Website.

With all the re-routes that were made in the 05-06 season, we spent most of the summer leveling and smoothing out our new trail system for the 06-07 season.

New Cross Country Ski Team Announced

Hanson Hills Recreation Area announced that they are forming a Nordic ski team. The ski team is open to people of all ages who have an interest in competing in the Michigan Cup Cross Country ski race series.

The Michigan Cup Cross Country ski racing season takes place from December 2006 through March 2007. More than 20 Michigan Cup races are scheduled throughout Michigan at many ski resorts and trails with a variety of distances and techniques.

Racers compete individually, in age groups and in team competitions. All ages and abilities are welcome.

The Hanson Hills team will compete with eight other teams during the race series. In addition various team events such as team training nights will be scheduled and discounted season passes will be available to team members.

The team is open to serious racers as well as people who just want to improve their cross country skiing ability. The Hanson Hills ski area offers an outstanding trail system with excellent grooming and will be a good home for the new team.
